Job Description

Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Pharmacist, the (CPhT) is responsible for providing technical support in performing various functions that are authorized by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as per The Texas Pharmacy Laws and Regulations. These functions include, but are not limited to, the nonbiased preparation and distribution of prescribed medications/drugs, pharmaceutical formulations, and billing functions. The (CPhT) is responsible for compliance with other requirements affecting United Medical Centers, such as State/Federal regulations, i.e., HIPAA, TJC, DSHS, HRSA, and Compliance Performance Improvement (CPI) standards.


  • High school graduate or equivalent with college courses preferred.


  • Must have passed the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam or other exams
  • Approved during an open meeting of the Texas Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must complete required continuing education as needed to maintain certification and registration.


  • At least one year of experience as a Certified/Registered Pharmacy Technician in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Clerical and computer experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required.


  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to communicate proficiently with individuals of diverse backgrounds and economic levels.
  • Prolonged hours of standing.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and carry a moderate amount of weight.
