Mammography Technologist

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Laboratory/Radiology Director performs Breast Imaging procedures and radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Ensures patient needs in accordance with instructions and directions of staff physicians. Responsible for ensuring that the required statistical reports and documentation are accurately developed, tabulated and submitted in a timely basis. Responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including demonstrating knowledge of the principals of growth and development of the life span. Must be able to identify and categorize each patient’s age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent and geriatric patients. Responsible for compliance with other requirements affecting the Medical Center, such as State/Federal regulations TJC, HRSA, DSHS standards and Compliance Standards.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiological Technology preferred. At least a year of experience in radiology preferred. Knowledge to perform and implement radiology policies and procedures. Basic life Support (BLS). Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to communicate proficiently with individuals of diverse background and economic levels.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Required.

Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technician (MRT) Required.

Mammography certification within 3 months of hire Required.

Mammography Certification (ARRT-M) Preferred.
