JOB SUMMARY: A Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is a preventive oral health professional who has graduated from an accredited dental hygiene program (certificate, associate, or baccalaureate) and is qualified by the successful completion of a national written board examination and state or regional clinical examination for licensure to practice dental hygiene. They provide the clinical, educational, and therapeutic services supporting the promotion of oral health. Under the general supervision of a licensed Dentist, they work in partnership to evaluate and implement the dental hygiene component of the overall dental treatment plan. All duties delegated are permitted under the Texas Dental Practice Act in accordance with the TSBDE rules and regulations. A Dentist is not required to be on the premises when the Dental Hygienist performs a delegated act. Responsible for compliance with other requirements impacting United Medical Centers such as State/Federal regulations HIPAA, HITECH, ACO, PCHM, OC3, DSHS standards, HRSA QI/QA and ADA.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program. Compliance with State Law and the Rules and Regulations of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE). Maintain a current TSBDE license, including appropriate certifications.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Minimum of one-year experience preferred. Knowledge of current technology: Dental Software and Record Keeping Systems. Proficient with computers and dental software. Bilingual in English/Spanish (Preferred). Able to Chart and Document accurately and legibly.
