Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Health Records Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of the Health Records Department at all sites. They are responsible for monitoring the day to day activities, for directing, planning, organizing, and implementing the training of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, Updox Electronic Fax system, HealthAsyst Program, Patient Portal Messaging, and Personal Telephone Messaging to the Health Records Department. The Health Records Supervisor is responsible for all processes within the department, for example, insurance set-up, verification of Medicaid, Medicare, Private Insurance, Managed Plans, Clinic Discount program, and Primary Health Program (PHC) Policy. The Health Records department ensures proper utilization of automated third-party websites for verification of the various insurances. Responsible for executing and updating the Health Records Policy and Procedures Manual and ensuring that department goals and objectives met. Participates in the compliance requirements of PEER Reviews/Chart reviews as outlined in the QI/QA Program requirements. Responsible for ensuring compliance with other requirements impacting United Medical Centers such as State/Federal regulations, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Accountable Care Organization (ACO), Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), Optimizing Comprehensive Clinical Care (OC3), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Meaningful Use, Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Standards, Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance (QI/QA), and Americans with Disabilities Acts (ADA) Requirement.
High School Graduate or equivalent and Business School Graduate preferred
• Must have at least 1-year experience in the Health Record or Business Office environment as a Supervisor.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and must have some knowledge or concepts of Electronic Health Record Systems.
• General knowledge of clerical duties including filing, indexing, recording, and storage of files experience required.
• Familiar with medical terminology preferred.
• Good communication skills.
