Under the direction of the WIC Director coordinates, plans, and performs the clinical process and needs of WIC clients. Responsible for assigning responsibilities to unlicensed personnel as per the competency assessment protocols. Responsible for providing nutrition education/breastfeeding promotions to WIC participants and making appropriate referrals as necessary. Responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Must be able to identify and categorize each patient’s age-specific groups of needs, such as those for 0-59 years old. Assists in the provisions of health education, breastfeeding, and disease prevention services in the community as needed and/or required. Responsible for compliance with other requirements affecting the Medical Center, such as State/Federal regulations, TJC standards, HRSA, DSHS, and Compliance Performance Standards requirements.
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing with a current license to practice as a vocational nurse in the State of Texas
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Ability to communicate proficiently with individuals of diverse backgrounds and economic levels.
